Horror Stories
First, don't read the long rather turgid descriptions of authors like Stephen King, his descriptive passages can be boring, I find.
Remember the saying,"all you have to fear, is fear itself".Then get inside the character who is petrified and describe what he/she is thinking, feeling and seeing. The way this character SEES things will be different to the way things are in reality.Fear changes perceptions, sometimes creating hallucinations, for example, but to the character, these are so terrifyingly real.
Give this a try and see how you do.Let me know if it works for you.
Common Mistakes
One of the most common uses of there is at the beginning of a sentence;eg.There is a new student in our class.Often students forget this simple construction and try to use complex language to express such a simple grammatical structure.eep it simp;e.That way,you make fewer mistakes.
Their, on the other hand, is the 3rd person plural possessive pronoun,in other words,it shows that something belongs to 'them'.Eg.,Their ball is stuck on the roof.
Their doesn't follow normal spelling rules. The rule,i before e except after c, is not applicable.Their,is an exception to this rule. You can remember it by thinking that it's like the with an ir added.
This is such a common mistake and so often confused that even native speakers get it wrong. But it's All Right, now you cand Write it correctly!

introduction
Hi there.Have you ever wished for a fairy godmother who could help you write like a professional? Are you a non-native speaker who isn't too confident with written English?Or maybe a native speaker who doesn't much like writing?I think I can help you.
I have had years of experience in the publishing world and have now decided to take on work on a freelance basis.I can edit fiction, academic work etc..I don't just use a spell check-anyone can do that.I look at your work and try to improve it and give you tips on how to do this for yourself.I guess this site is about empowerment... helping me earn a few bucks, and you with your writing style.
For example,if you send me a sample of your work,I can analyze your weak spots and point up what you need to concentrate on when you write. Some people make the same errors, time after time,so these are easy to correct.
Please feel free to comment and send me some samples for analysis,if you want to see if I can do as I advertise here.
I'd love to hear from you so I don't feel I'm writing to myself [I haven't started talking to myself yet,so maybe that's a good sign].
Please specify if you want U.S. or British English.
